29 September - A city welcomes its newest son. last time I walked through the narrow streets of the stronghold of Kosice in the Republic of Slovakia it was as a foreigner, a stranger in a strange land; I have returned after eight years of hard labours not as a stranger but as a citizen (albeit one travelling on a foreigner's passport) and not just any citizen but the 5,189,283rd citizen (or thereabouts).
